Maharashtra: Asst Sub inspector gets 1 year RI in bribe case
Thane, May 18 (UNI) City assistant sub inspector of police attached to the Kopri police station of Thane city was awarded 12 months rigorous imprisonment in graft case on Friday.
The accused, Hussain Dastagir Shaikh was also fined a collective sum of Rs 10,000.
The DGP Sanjay Londhe told the court that Mr Shaikh made a demand of Rs 5,000 from the complainant for not taking any action against him.
The aggrieved complainant lodged a complaint with the Thane unit of the ACB official, who laid a trap on September 28,2010 and nabbed the accused while accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from the complainant, prosecutor told the court.
He was held guilty of the offences punishable under sections 7, 13(1)(d) and 13(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act of 1988.
