Maharashtra: Ex-Shiv Sena leader among 3 booked for flouting COVID norms
Thane/UNI: Three persons from Maharashtra's Kalyan have been booked for alleged violation of the Covid norms and organizing a marriage in which hundreds were present, the police said on Monday.
The SHO at the Mahatma Phule Police station said that offences under sections of the IPC, Epidemic Act, Disaster Management act has been registered against the bride’s father and the manager of the hall where the marriage function was held.
The function itself was held on April 3 and the event went viral on social media within minutes where severe allegations were made on violation of the Covid safety norms, more so the girl happened to be the daughter of the former Shiv Sena leader.
The offence was registered on the same day shortly before midnight.
The comments questioned if this would be allowed for common citizens and such events give rise to the pandemic.
The police gave the names of the accused as Ramesh Singh, the Manager of the hall, girls father Sunil Vayle and his relative Suresh Mhatre.
The local police are probing into the offence.
As per the guidelines, only 50 persons are allowed for any marriage function and all the norms including the use of masks and social distancing need to be followed, which were flouted in the said function.
