Maharashtra: Two held for robbing computer professional

Thane, Aug 20 (UNI) Two men have been arrested on charges of posing as policemen and robbing a computer professional off Rs 86,000 at gun point, police said on Tuesday.

A release by the Navi Mumbai said the computer professional was about to get into his parked car on August 12, at about 2130 hrs near Nerul railway station when the duo appeared posing as policemen and pointed a fake revolver at him and demanded money.

When the victim refused, they assaulted him and snatched Rs 86,000 which he was carrying. An offence was registered in this connection with the Nerul police station under sections 394,170 rw 34 of the IPC, police said.

The Cyber Crimes Unit (CCU) of the NM police which took up the investigation got a tip-off that the offence was committed by the duo from Ajiwali gaon of Panvel and arrested them. The two were identified as Shubam Subash Patil, 24, rickshaw driver and Vishal More, 19 the police said.

During the interrogation, the police learnt that they were also involved in a similar crime when they broke open the shutters of the computer shop in Kharghar in the intervening night of 07/08, March 2019 and decamped with cash of Rs. 2.50 lakhs from the shop. An offence under section 457 and 380 of the IPC had been registered then against them with the Kharghar police station the police said.

The police are now now trying to find out if the arrested accused were involved in any more crimes and the amount involved in the same.
