Mamata Banerjee announces compensation, job for family member of Bengal man hacked to death in Rajasthan
Kolkata, Dec 8 (IBNS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday announced Rs 3 lakh compensation to the family of a migrant labourer from her state who was killed in Rajasthan recently.
She also promised to give job to a family member in the victim.
"Very sad incident happened in Rajasthan. Afrajul Khan of Malda of our state was brutally killed. His family is totally helpless. As a small help to the bereaved family, our government has decided to provide Rs 3 lakh to the family and also one job to the eligible person of the victim's family. Other help from the government will also be provided. I am sending our team of Ministers and MPs to visit the family," Banerjee said in a tweet.
The labourer, Afrazul Khan, was hacked and then burnt alive over an alleged affair.
His family, which lives in West Bengal’s Saiyadpur, Malda district, has demanded the guilty be hanged.
The police found the body and identified the victim as Mohammed Afrazul, 48.
A video went viral on social media that shows a man, who the police identified as Afrazul, being hacked to death.
The main accused in the case, Shambhulal Regar, was arrested and his 14-year-old nephew, who filmed the crime, detained.
