Mamata Banerjee, Congress condemn Afghanistan attack

Kabul, May 31 (IBNS): The Congress and West Bengal Chief Minister Mmaata Banerjee condemned the militant attack in Afghanistan which has claimed 80 lives on Wednesday.

Banerjee tweeted: "Saddened at the loss of innocent lives in Afghanistan. Prayers and thoughts with the families #kabulblast."

The Congress also condemned the attack.

The party said: "We strongly condemn the terrorist attack in #Kabul. Our heart is with everyone in Kabul. Terror will never break the spirit of humanity."

At least 80 people were killed in the massive attack that hit Kabul city on Wednesday.

The blast took place  at around 08 30 am on Wazir Akbar Khan road close to the Zanbaq square- Kabul's high security diplomatic area where the Indian embassy and several other diplomatic missions are located.

Al Jazeera quoted police and health official sources as saying that  least 80 people were killed and more than 300 wounded in the attack. The death toll was expected to rise.
