Mayawati flays Bhim Army chief for CAA protests

| @indiablooms | Dec 22, 2019, at 04:55 pm

New Delhi/UNI: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati on Sunday criticised Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad for taking part in anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests in Delhi's Jama Masjid area, saying that it was with an eye on the coming Delhi Assembly elections.

Mayawati tweeted, "Mr Chandrasekhar is playing in to the hands of anti-BSP parties because of his political interests. He is deliberately participating in protests in states where the BSP is in a strong position."

The BSP chief alleged that the BSP Army chief had deliberately got himself jailed to cut into BSP's vote share.

Chandrasekhar hails from UP but courted arrest by attending a demonstration in Delhi's Jama Masjid area on the issue of CAA and National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Accusing Chandrasekhar of attempting to take advantage of the coming Delhi Assembly elections, she asked BSP supporters  to stay away from such organisations, elements and individuals.
