Mirwaiz slams Geelani

Srinagar Apr 19 (IBNS): Asking Kashmiri separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani to come out from his 'Holier than Thou' stance, All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairperson Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Umar Farooq in an open attack on Geelani Saturday said that he is trying to exhibit an attitude of superior virtue and thinks he is the god-father of the freedom movement which is utterly incorrect.

"It is the movement of people. People have sacrificed their  precious lives for this movement and Geelani has no copy right over Kashmir movement. Who the hell is he? He wants to see himself as the sole proprietor of this movement. I warn him not to issue baseless and fabricated statements which utterly prove harmful for the ongoing Movement," Mirwaiz told reporters during a news conference at his residence here.

Without naming any group or its leaders, Geelani had accused it of "working against the cause of Kashmiris and stated that some people have been approaching pro-freedom groups to garner their support for BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi."

Taking strong note of these 'allegations' Mirwaiz termed them as fabricated and baseless and said that his (Geelani's) statement has  given an indication that somebody is going to die.

"I ask people to be  vigilant. Whom Geelani want to kill now and who is the next target. So many Hurriyat leader died because of his baseless and worthless utterances in the past and who is he to criticize us when he himself has contested elections for 12 times," Mirwaiz said.

Mirwaiz while hitting Geelani from right, left centre and said that he is misleading the public of Kashmir through his baseless statement and is trying to create confusion and create chaos among people.

"He is no god-father of this movement. I am telling him and his 'cottiers' to desist from attacking us and not try to be 'Holier than Thou'. He is trying to create vicious environment in Kashmir and mislead people," Mirwaiz said.

Mirwaiz  made it clear there is no secret deal going on.

"There is nothing to hide. Whenever we talked to some one, we made that public and yes, we talked to different people including the civil society of India and our stand is clear that Kashmir issue could be resolved either by implementing UN resolutions or through tripartite talks," he said adding that Geelani thinks that only he is right while rest are wrong.

In a scathing attack on Geelani, Mirwaiz said that he (Geelani), his coteries and few self-styled columnists are always spewing venom and misleading people.

In his direct address to Geelani, Mirwaiz said, "Don't take us fargranted. You are pushing us to wall. Do you think you (Geelani) have copyright of this movement? Let me make it clear, he (Geelani) has no copy right."

Rejecting the claims made by Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz said that  he or his group never talked to anyone.

"Why we will support Modi when we are not in electoral fray. Our group has legacy of faith, trust and conviction. Let me tell you that no dialogue is going on, on Kashmir issue. When there is no dialogue then there is no question of making any secret deal. I don't want to be personal. I want to say many things and if I open Pandora box of past that will take shape of long  book," Mirwaiz said.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq further said that he recently wrote a letter to Indian civil society and the Indian government and made it clear that change of guard is not the solution of Kashmir issue.

He said the 'follies' committed by Geelani from time to time has created trust deficit amoung pro-freedom leadership in Kashmir.

"Geelani is pushing us toward civil war. I ask him not to issue 'worthless' statements which creates confusion amoung people," he said adding that APHC members have taken a strong note of the allegations leveled by Geelani during its meeting.
