MK Gandhi assassination statement: RSS demands apology from Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, Aug 25 (IBNS): Taking offence to Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's statement over the involvement of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Mahatma Gandhi's assassination, the right wing organisation has demanded apology from the Gandhi scion, media reports said.

Gandhi made the remarks while addressing a rally in Maharashtra in 2014 before the general elections.

Later, a complaint was lodged by RSS Bhiwandi secretary Rajesh Mahadev Kunte, who said that the Congressman is trying to tarnish the organisation's reputation.

However, softening his stand, Gandhi told Supreme Court on Wednesday that he did not blame the RSS but people associated with it.

The Apex court has also ordered the RSS complainant to offer his response by next week, following Gandhi's explanation.

Refusing to budge from their stand, the RSS accused Gandhi of twisting the statements he had made earlier.

The ideological mentor of BJP, RSS, has asked Gandhi to come clean and explain his stand.

The case will be dismissed if the complainant accepts Gandhi's statement.
