MK Stalin likely to be elected as DMK president today
Chennai, Aug 28 (IBNS): Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister late Muthuvel Karunanidhi's son MK Stalin is likely to get elected as the Dravida Munnetra Kazghagam (DMK) president on Tuesday, media reports said.
Stalin, if elected after the General Council meeting, will succeed his father.
The 65-year old Tamil politician became the working president of the party in 2017.
The DMK president's post had fallen vacant after party patriarch Karunanidhi's demise on Aug 7, 2018.
Following Karunanidhi's death, a succession war within the party took place with Alagiri, the other son of the late DMK president, claiming several party loyalists are with him.
Alagiri was expelled from the DMK in 2014 for "anti-party activities".
