Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the BJP membership drive in Varanasi said to make the journey of India to a $ 5 trillion dollar economy as envisaged in the Budget 2019 easier, his government is focusing on involving farmers in big way and turning them into exporters. He said creating clean healthy and beautiful India would aid the journey and bigger the target bigger would be the pie for everyone in this journey. He also called the critics of the budget as "professional pessimists."

He said there is a lot of noise around the target of a $5 trillion economy and people should know what that mean to an ordinary Indian. It is important for you to know it and spread the word, he said adding that India has a right to dream big.

"In the last few years, the contribution made by every citizen of the country to cleanliness has strengthened our efforts to create a healthy India," he said.

"It is also important to know because there are some people who are doubting the strength of Indians, they are saying that achieving these goals for India is very difficult," he said.

"There is a saying in English that size of the cake matters, the larger the cake, the larger part of the people will get. That's why we have emphasized the economy of India to make an economy of $ 5 trillion," he said.

He said those people who are asking why we are doing this (read 5 trillion dollar economy target) are professional pessimists. "Beware of such people," he said.

"Look at the history of most of the developed countries today, even then at one time there was not too much per capita income," he said.

"When per capita income increases in any country, it increases the purchasing power. If purchasing power increases, demand increases," he said.

"In the next 5 years, a significant share in the development trip of $ 5 trillion will be for farmers and farmers. Today, the country is self-reliant in food and drinks, it is the sweat of farmers and farmers of the country, continuous hard work," he said.

"Now we are looking forward to the farmer as an exporter. We have enough capacity to export food, milk, fruit-vegetable, honey or organic products," he said.

Therefore, the budget has stressed to create an environment for export of agricultural products, he added.

He said the Ayushman Bharat (healthcare) Scheme is also being proved to be very helpful for a healthy India. "Nearly 50 million poor people of the country are getting free treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh each year. So far, about 32 lakh poor patients have benefitted from this in hospitals," he informed.

Speaking at his constituency in Varanasi, he said: "Here in Kashi, we are seeing the benefits of cleanliness and beauty. Tourists coming here are experiencing a great deal due to the cleanliness in the Ganga Ghat to roads and streets."

He said efforts are being made at every level to construct infrastructure for the storage of produce in the village or to build cities and modern facilities. "Highways, Railways, Airways, Waterways, Digital Infrastructure, Broadband facilities in the village, Rs. 100 lakh crore will be invested in the coming 5 years," he said.

"20 million houses will be built in the village only for this purpose. By the year 2022, there will be a permanent roof over the head of every poor homeless. Budget has also been made in the Budget to fulfill the dream of the middle-class house along with the poor," he said.

He said incentives are also being given for making electric vehicles. Electric Vehicle makers are exempted from tax, he said.
