Modi exposes his ignorance: Omar Abdullah
Srinagar, Apr 28 (IBNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday hit back at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi after the latter held his father Farooq Abdullah's politics responsible for eviction of Kashmiri Pandits from the state.
"Narendra Modi continuously exposes his ignorance," Abdullah told mediapersons, adding that the Pandits left the state when BJP affiliated Jagmohan was the governor of the state and his rival PDP party's patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was the Home Minister in V P Singh government backed by the BJP.
He said to his knowledge Jagmohan is still associated with the BJP.
He also accused Modi of avoiding Jammu and Kashmir deliberately for campaigning in the Lok Sabha polls since he has no knowledge about the state.
"Modi doesn't have the courage to come to Kashmir," Abdullah said.
He said that Kashimiri Pandits did not leave the state because of his father but due to the politics of BJP and its partners.
Abdullah further took the issue to Twitter.
"Modi forgets that Sheikh Abdullah chose a secular India rather than Muslim Pakistan & then spent 2 decades incarcerated but didn't waver," the CM tweeted.
Attacking Modi for speaking over secularism, he posted: "If there is one thing Kashmir & Kashmiris don't need from Modi it's a lecture on secularism. Kashmir gave the world Kashmiryat & tolerance."
"In 1947 when Hindu Muslim violence swept the country as far north as Jammu Kashmir was a beacon of tolerance, an example to the rest," Abdullah tweeted.
Accusing him of deploying the weapon of lies, he said, ""Lastly if Modi lies so much about J&K & it's absence of reservation, RTI. education Etc what else is he lying about when he speaks?"
These comes after Modi had said that Kashmiri Pandits fled from the state due to Farooq Abdullah's misrule.
"Due to communal politics of Abdullah family, Kashmiri Pandits were removed from their homes only due to their religion," Modi said.
