New Delhi, Apr 25 (IBNS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Friday welcomed Daljit Singh Kohli, who is a brother of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by blood, into his party.
"We welcome Shri Daljeet Singh Kohli, Dr. Manmohan Singh's brother, into BJP. His presence will add to our strength," Modi tweeted.
Daljeet Singh Kohli joined the BJP during a public meeting in Amritsar.
He shared the dais with Modi and other senior BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders.
While it comes as a major embarrassment to the Congress party, Kohli's induction into BJP is expected to provide a fillip to the BJP-SAD alliance.
