Modi welcomes Pakistan, SL's move to release Indian fishermen
Modi tweeted: " I welcome the step by Sri Lanka & Pakistan to release our fishermen. I welcome our fishermen brothers back home!"
Pakistan on Sunday released 151 Indian fishermen from its prisons.
A day ahead of Prime Minister elect Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony, Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa has ordered the release of arrested Indian fishermen to show a goodwill measure to mark the occasion.
"The government of Pakistan has released 151 Indian fishermen from Karachi and Hyserabad prisons as a goodwill gesture on the eve of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit to India," Geo News reported.
Gearing up for Modi's swearing-in ceremony on May 26, invitations to several heads of nations have been sent out which include Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Afghan president Hamid Karzai and Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
