Benaulim, Oct 16 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday held a restricted meeting with the leaders of BRICS nations in Goa and slammed Pakistan in a veiled attack by stating that the "mother-ship of terrorism is a country in India's neighbourhood."

During the meeting, Modi said, "The most serious direct threat to our eco prosperity is terrorism. Tragically, its mother-ship is a country in India's neighborhood."

The Indian PM called on BRICS country to work together for early adoption of Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT) and step up practical cooperation against terrorism.

At the start of the meeting, Modi said "BRICS nations have been a voice for peace, reform, reason and purposeful action."

"We have built new global institutions to complement the existing architecture. The NDB & Contingency Reserve Arrangement  stand out," he said.

Modi urged that "BRICS must play an active role in setting a direction that supports our common aspirations and goals."

The India PM spoke of the critical challenges that the world is confronted with, beginning with the need for a clear roadmap to revive the global economy.

"If new drivers of growth have to take root, there must be unhindered flow of skilled talent, ideas, technology and capital across borders," Modi said.

Modi also spoke on the issue of climate change at the meeting.

"India has recently ratified the Paris Climate Agreement. We are committed to a harmonious balance between development and climate change," said the PM.

PM Modi concluded his speech by mentioning non-conventional security challenges, from threats on cyberspace and piracy on high seas to human trafficking.
