Mumbai, July 3 (IBNS): A bridge collapse in Mumbai's Andheri region left at least five people injured on Tuesday, disrupting the train services in the financial capital of the country.

Following the disruption in railway services, the Railway Ministry ordered an inquiry into the incident.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal visited the spot of the incident and called the episode as 'unfortunate'.

"It is an unfortunate incident, I have ordered an inquiry into this. Commissioner of rail safety will give report in 15 days," Goyal told reporters.

The cause of the collapse is suspected to be heavy rain.

The accident also forced commuters to wait for long hours as the Mumbai suburban local train service was badly hit.

Confirming the number of injured people in the incident, Western Railway tweeted: "5 injured in the Andheri bridge mishap were immediately rushed to the Cooper hospital. Rly doctors coordinating with medical authorities there as also monitoring their treatment. Ex gratia payment made to them. @drmbct."
