Nagaland: Total lockdown in Peren district from Jun 30, state's Covid-19 tally surges to 434

Guwahati/IBNS:  In view of a sharp spike in Covid-19 positive cases, the Nagaland government has imposed a total lockdown in Peren district from Jun 30 to Jul 5.

Peren district Deputy Commissioner Sentiwapang Aier on Sunday issued an order and stated that the total lockdown is necessitated as stringent precautions to prevent any unlikely incident that may result in the local or community transmission and the risk to public health and safety of the citizens of Peren.

In the order copy, the Peren district Deputy Commissioner stated that, movement of public shall be strictly prohibited and private vehicles movement is banned, all business, shops and trade activities shall remain closed, while all social, political, religious gathering and functions are also prohibited during the total lockdown period.

On the other hand, the Mon district administration has extended the total lockdown in the district till Jul 5.

The district administration said that the lockdown has been extended in view of the increasing Covid-19 positive cases in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Superintendent of Police (SP), Chief Medical Officer in Mon district went into self isolation after frontline workers testing positive for COVID-19 in the district recently.

In absence of the top officials, Nagaland Transport minister Paiwang Konyak will lead the Covid-19 activities in the district.

Nagaland on Monday registered 19 new Covid-19 positive cases and with the fresh cases, the state tally has now surged to 434.
