Nalanda University's new campus inauguration: Top 10 quotes of PM Modi

Rajgir/IBNS: In his first visit to Bihar since assuming power for the third term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the ancient Nalanda University in the Rajgir district of the state.

Apart from Modi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, ambassadors of 17 countries were among the attendees.

After unveiling a plaque, the Prime Minister planted a sapling in the new campus.

Here's what PM Modi said during his address

1. I am fortunate to get an opportunity to come to Nalanda University within 10 days after taking oath for the third term as Prime Minister. I interpret this as an auspicious sign of India's developmental journey.

2.  Nalanda is a symbol of India's academic heritage and vibrant cultural exchange.

3. Nalanda is not just a name but an identity, dignity, value, belief, pride and saga.

4. Nalanda's revival and this new campus will introduce the world to India's capabilities.

5. Nalanda is an evidence of the fact that a country, which stands for strong human values, knows how to create hope for the future by reliving its history.

6. Nalanda is not just a story of reliving India's history but it is associated with the heritage of Asia and the world.

7. The presence of representatives of so many countries for an inauguration of a university campus is unprecedented.

8. Our neighbouring countries had contributed to the revival of Nalanda University. I congratulate all the friendly countries of India.

9. The new campus of Nalanda University is an inspiration for Bihar, which is moving forward in the developmental journey.

10. Nalanda was once the nerve centre of India's traditions and identity.
