Navjot Singh Sidhu's chance of joining AAP bleak?

New Delhi, Aug 17 (IBNS): Chances of cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu joining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) seem bleak now with media reports revealing that there has been no contact between party leaders of late.

NDTV citing sources reported that there has been no contact between Sidhu and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal after the former cricketer demanded that he be projected as chief ministerial candidate in Punjab, where elections will be held early next year.

Former BJP MP, Sidhu had quit the Rajya Sabha membership as he was asked to stay away from Punjab by the party.

Addressing a press conference, Sidhu had said: "I resigned from the Rajya Sabha as I was told to stay away from Punjab. How could I leave my roots? How could I abandon those people who reposed faith in me for four times during elections?"

He had said, "After winning four elections, I was asked to stay away from Punjab and not just once but for 3-4 times."

According to media reports, Sidhu, 52, could join the Aam Aadmi Party.

The speculation was boosted then with Arvind Kejriwal's tweet that stated: "People can give their rt hand for an RS seat. Ever seen a sitting RS MP resigning to save his state? I salute Sidhu ji for his courage."

Sidhu had been upset with the BJP since 2014, when his parliamentary constituency of Amritsar was assigned to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who lost the election.
