NCW seeks report on rape complaint against Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, 'victim' says coerced by BJP leaders

Ranchi/IBNS: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has sought a report on the complaint of an alleged rape incident against Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, media reports said.

The incident had allegedly taken place in 2013.

The commission said it has come across a media report which claimed a Mumbai model was allegedly raped by Soren in 2013.

The alleged incident was highlighted by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey in July.

Dubey said Soren had misused his office to settle the matter.

In August, Soren had filed a defamation suit of Rs. 100 crore against Dubey.

However in a twist, the victim shared a video which went viral on social media saying she was coerced by BJP leaders including Dubey into making false allegations.

The woman said in the video she was facing death threats and if something untoward happens to her, the leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand assembly Babulal Marandi, his two aides and Dubey will be responsible.

"I am being blackmailed, given death threats and my image is being maligned through wrong and misleading tweets. I am really scared and I have mailed a complaint to the Mumbai police," the woman said.

Dubey has also challenged Soren to open a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the incident.
