NEC Plenary under Amit Shah's chairmanship gets underway

Guwahati, Sept 8 (UNI) The 68th Plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC), chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, got underway here on Sunday.

During the two-day session, there will be presentations from DoNER, the NEC, the state governments as well as select Central Ministries on various developmental issues which are critical to the NE region.

The Plenary is expected to deliberate on progress of ongoing projects, outlays by Central Ministries in the North Eastern Region and plans for the period beyond March 2020 when the 14th Finance Commission term comes to an end.

The meeting is being attended by the MoS (Independent Charge), Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), the Vice-Chairman of NEC, members of the NEC consisting of the Governors and Chief Ministers of the eight North Eastern states, including Sikkim, and other members.

Senior officials from the states and key ministries of the Government of India are also attending the meeting.
