New Delhi, Jun 2 (UNI) The Delhi Police Crime Branch team has been successful in arresting seven people of an international gang, who used to send stolen mobile phones outside India.

Crime Branch Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dev said on Sunday, ''311 mobile phones have been recovered from the possession of the arrested people, whose value is more than Rs 60 lakhs. All the gang members have been arrested.''

''The criminals have been identified as Naresh Kumar (30), Mukesh Kumar (38), Naresh Kumar (27), Rajan alias Ajit (28) Ram Singh (58), Gopal Pathak (31) and Rohit alias Kake (23). Ram Singh is a resident of Nepal while the other six are from Delhi. There are several cases registered on these people in different police stations,'' he said.

Mr Dev said that the crime branch team had information that a gang is active in the national capital, which is sending stolen/looted smartphones to Nepal.

''A special team of police was formed under the leadership of ACP Jasbir Singh to ascertain the gang,'' he said.

One of the arrested criminal said for the last two or three years, he used to work as a mobile repair worker in the Gaffar market. Due to the continuous raids of the police and the decline in the mobile prices, the repair work had gone down.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the IMEI number of the seized mobile and information will be uploaded on the Delhi Police website soon, so that people can identify their mobile and get it through legal process.
