Niira Radia tapes: SC to hear Tata's plea
The controversial tapes contained conversation between corporate lobbyist Niira Radia and several industry leaders in connection to the 2G scam.
The government on Aug 23, 2012 filed a report in the Supreme Court where it stated that it was unable to find the source that leaked the tapes containing conversations of Radia with Tata and other influential people.
Tata had sought an inquiry into the matter.
Tata alleged that the incident was in violation of his rights to privacy.
The leaked taped conversations of Radia with Tata and other influential people, including the ex-telecom minister A Raja who is accused of masterminding the 2G spectrum allocation scam, had rattled the nation.
In perhaps the biggest scam in Independent India, allegedly masterminded by Raja, telecoms spectrum was given away at throwaway prices in 2008 causing a potential revenue loss of up to Rs 1.76 lakh crore.
