Nitish Kumar bans alcohol in Bihar

| | Nov 26, 2015, at 10:01 pm
Patna, Nov 26 (IBNS) Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Thursday imposed a ban on alcohol which will come into effect from Apr 1 next year.

Kumar said, "I feel that women are suffering more than others... I have instructed my officials to start working towards this and implement the move from the next financial year."

The ban comes as a surprise as the state collected Rs 3500 crore in the last year, pertaining to sales and taxes of alcohol.

The newly imposed rule will enable Bihar to join other states like Gujarat, Lakshadweep, Nagaland and Manipur, where alcohol is banned.
