Nitish, Sonia launch scathing attack on Modi in Bihar rally
Patna, Aug 30 (IBNS): Minutes after Congress President Sonia Gandhi's scathing attack on the Centre, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday slammed Narendra Modi and said the Prime Minister repackaged the old schemes and declared them as new.
He said PM Modi had to bow down his head to the people and take back the promulgation of the Land Ordinance Bill.
"Today the self-respect of the common people won. PM Modi had to declare that will not promulgate land ordinance," Nitish Kumar said.
Attacking the Prime Minister further, he said: "The BJP made false promises ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. People also believed in and flooded the party with votes. But the Modi government betrayed the trust of the people. It is an anti-farmer government."
Nitish said that the Jan Dhan Yojna is a failure.
Referring to Modi's dig at his DNA, Nitish said, "Modi said my DNA is bad. But my DNA is same as that of every Bihari people. He has agitated the self-respect of the Biharis."
Recalling some phrases from Modi's rally in Bihar earlier, Nitish said, "Modi says it is Jungle Raj in Bihar but we have Law-abiding governance over here."
Congress President Sonia Gandhi also launched a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi government in Bihar's Patna city while addressing the 'Swabhiman Rally' (a rally for self-respect) ahead of the Bihar Assembly polls.
She said the Modi government has betrayed the faith of the people and has not fulfilled the commitments.
"I have come here to be a part of Swabhimaani Biharis and to boost the fight for the pride of Bihar," Sonia said.
Taking a dig at Modi, she said some people gain pleasure in degrading Bihar.
Launching a scathing attack on PM Modi, the Congress supremo said, "Prime Minister Modi committed to provide jobs to 1 crore youths every year but what happened to that? Rather, through its Vypam scam, the BJP government has ruined several families," she said.
Sonia said Modi government is "anti-farmer".
"Modi Sarkar (government) is anti farmers' government who wants to snatch the lands from the farmers and give them to his rich friends," she accused.
"We fought for the rights of the farmers in the Parliament and today the government gave in to our fight," Sonia said hours after Modi said his government will not promulgate land ordinance and will allow the controversial Land Bill to lapse.
She accused that Modi has taken the route of silence over the issue of inflation.
Speaking about the continuous ceasefire violation along the LoC region, Sonia said, "We want to know his intention over tackling issues with Pakistan."
She said the nation has lost faith in Modi.
Ending her speech, Sonia said, "I have full faith that people of Bihar will shower their love and support towards this alliance headed by Nitish Kumar in the state."
This comes as Narendra Modi's BJP tries to capture power in Bihar in the Assembly elections, due by October this year, by dislodging the Janata Dal(U) government, headed by Nitish Kumar. The NDA in Bihar is pitted against a combina
The JD (U) has combined with Lalu Prasad's RJD and the Congress to resist the BJP.
