No government jobs for people in Assam with more than two children

Guwahati/IBNS: Two years after the Assam assembly adopted the population policy, the Assam cabinet on Monday decided that, no government jobs will be given to the persons having more than two children after Jan 1, 2021.

The decision was taken at the cabinet meeting of the Assam government held here on Monday evening.

It is to be mentioned that, the 126-member Assam assembly had passed the “Population and Women Empowerment Policy of Assam” in Sept 2017.

Assam Commerce Minister Chandramohan Patowary said that, the state government cabinet has decided that, the government will not give jobs to the persons having more than two children after January 1, 2021.

The Assam cabinet also adopted a new land policy that will provide 3 bighas land to the landless indigenous people for farming and half a bigha for constructing a house.

The Assam Minister said that, the beneficiary will sell the allotted land after 15 years of use.

The cabinet has also decided to increase bus fares by 25 percent, providing Rs 300 per month to widows under a scheme named after educationist Indira Miri.

The government will give one-time grant of Rs 25,000 for women who became widows on or after Apr 1 this year under the scheme.

The Assam cabinet also decided to provide adequate help to the patients of the state, creation of new jobs in Panchayat and Rural development department, Public Works department.
