No returning to NDA alliance, want to make JD(U) national party: Nitish Kumar

| | Dec 04, 2016, at 03:00 am
New Delhi, Dec 3 (IBNS): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday said his ambition is to make the Janata Dal (United) a national party by enhancing its pan India footprint.

Speaking at the 14th edition of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, Kumar made it clear that there is no returning to the National Democratic Alliance.

The Bihar Chief Minister said that his support towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi's demonetisation policy should not be considered as having any political implications.

Kumar’s JD(U) was in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for nearly a decade.

However, the parties severed their ties before the 2014 general elections.

Kumar also denied having any meeting with BJP chief Amit Shah following PM Modi’s announcement to scrap high-value banknotes.

On being asked by Barkha Dutt, the consulting editor of NDTV, about his alleged meeting with Shah, Kumar joked: “It must have happened in the house of the journalist (who reported it). Why doesn’t he show some photos of our meeting?”
