Note ban row: PM Modi will not apologise, govt tells oppositions
"There is no question of PM Modi apologising," Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said in the Rajya Sabha.
Parliament proceedings were disrupted for the seventh straight day as the opposition leaders demanded an apology from PM Modi over his alleged speech on black money.
In his speech, Modi had slammed his critics saying that some people were unhappy because government had not given them enough time to prepare (for the note ban).
The opposition demanded an apology from Modi saying that he spoke outside the Parliament where the opposition cannot defend itself.
Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad alleged: "PM today said the opposition is favouring black money, this is a serious allegation against the entire Opposition, he must apologise."
Even Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati said that the PM had "wrongly accused opposition of holding black money."
