One dies in coal mining incident in Meghalya

West Khasi Hills (Meghalaya): One coal mine worker killed and another injured in an incident of alleged illegal coal mining in Meghalaya's West Khasi Hills district.

The incident took place in a remote area under Shallang police station.

Confirming the incident Herbert G Lyngdoh, Superintendent of Police (SP) of West Khasi Hills district told IBNS: "Where the incident was happened that area is very remote and my officers have gone to that area. When they will come back they will give me the detail report. We have also gotten report like that."

He further said that, the incident took place at Goreng area under Shallang police station on Thursday evening.
