Only airline passengers will be allowed in casinos at Mopa airport: Goa CM

Panaji, July 29 (UNI): Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday informed the Assembly that only air passengers will be allowed in the casinos at upcoming airport at Mopa in North Goa.

In a written reply in response to a question tabled by MLA Wilfred D'sa, the Chief Minister said the airport would have 5-star hotels, eco, adventure and wellness resorts, 3-star hotels and budget hotels in hospitality sector.

For public amenities, the airport would have post office, telephone exchange, police station, conveniences, health centre and hospital.

It would have shopping plaza, office space, airline offices and government offices in commercial and office space, while in education and training space, the airport would have aviation institute, aviation related training such as flight attendants, college or university, skill development centres and facilities for associated employees.

For logistics facilities, it would have logistic operators offices, customs clearing offices, warehouses, cold storages, packaging centre, lodading or unloading facilities, weigh bridges, truck parking, drivers facilities and petrol/ diesel/ CNG pumps and other support services.

The Chief Minister said an area of 232 acres had been proposed for commercial development at the airport located in North Goa's Pernem sub district.

The greenfield airport, being jointly developed by the Goa Government and GMR, is expected to handle 30 million passenger traffic once fully operational. The first phase of the airport is likely to be completed in 2020.
