Only way to stop spread of Coronavirus now is full lockdown: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi/UNI: Congress top leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said the only way to stop the spread of Covid-19 in the country now is a full lockdown.

In a tweet, the Congress leader said, "GOI doesn't get it. The only way to stop the spread of Corona now is a full lockdown- with the protection of NYAY for the vulnerable sections. GOI's inaction is killing many innocent people."

Later, in another tweet, Gandhi said, "I just want to make it clear that a lockdown is now the only option because of a complete lack of strategy by GOI. They allowed, rather, they actively helped the virus reach this stage where there's no other way to stop it. A crime has been committed against India."

Meanwhile, India recorded 3,57,229 new Covid-19 cases within the past 24 hours, pushing the active caseload to 1,99,25,604, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) said on Tuesday.

Within the same period, the death toll has risen by 3,449 and now stands at 2,22,408.
