Opposition BJP lambasts TMC led Malda Zilla Parishad for presenting populist budget

Malda, Mar 9 (UNI): Malda Zilla Parishad on Thursday passed Rs 422 crore budget along with a slew of development projects which was severely crticised by the opposition BJP.

Opposition leader and BJP Zilla Parishad member Jewel Murmu lambasted the TMC leadership for presenting a populist budget just ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Terming the budget a poll gimmick,  Murmu said it would not be successful in realising the development goals of the district.

Zilla Parishad president Gour Chandra Mandal said Rs 74 crores in the budget has been allocated to projects which have been already launched.
He said these projects will be completed at the earliest.

Mandal said the budget aims to bring development in the region and the opposition is afraid that it might give an edge to TMC.
