Opposition Congress slams BJP minister over his statement on Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha

Guwahati, Mar 1 (IBNS) : The opposition Congress legislators on Wednesday hit back at the BJP led Assam government in the Assam assembly following state parliamentary minister Chandra Mohan Patowary alleged that the Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (Assam tea labourer organization) is working for the Congress.

Replying a query raised by a Congress MLA on the pitiable lifestyle conditions of the tea garden labourer issue, the state parliamentary minister said that, the Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha is an organization of the tea garden labourers, but the organization is working for Congress since couple of decades in the state.

The Assam minister also demanded to dismiss the organization.

Following the Assam minister’s statement, the opposition Congress legislators condemned it and said that, it is an unconstitutional statement made by a state minister.

Opposition leader in the Assam assembly, Debabrata Saikia said that, Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha is a non-political organization and the minister’s statement is totally baseless.

The opposition legislators also hit back Patowary for his unnecessary and unacceptable statement in the house and demanded the speaker intervention.
