Over 27.30 lakh people hit by Assam flood, death toll mounts to 81

Guwahati/IBNS: Two more people drowned in floodwaters in Assam on Sunday taking the death toll to 81.

Over 27.30 lakh people of 25 districts are still affected in the current wave of flood.

At least, 2,633 villages in the flood-hit districts are currently underwater.

The floodwaters have submerged over 1.14 lakh hectares of croplands.

47,023 people are currently taking shelter at 287 relief camps in the flood hit districts.

The water level of Brahmaputra river is still flowing above danger level mark at Neamatighat in Jorhat district, Tezpur in Sonitpur district, Goalpara and Dhubri district.

Around 202 embankments, 167 bridges, culverts, 1621 roads across the state have been damaged by the floodwaters in 30 districts of the state.
