Over 79.19 lakh voters to decide fate of 337 candidates in third phase of Assam polls

Guwahati: The third and final phase of Assam assembly polls for 40 constituencies will be held on Apr 6 in 12 Lower Assam districts including three districts under the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) area.

Over 79.19 lakh voters will exercise their franchise at 11401 polling stations to decide the fate of 337 candidates including 25 female candidates.

Out of the total voters, 40,11,539 are male voters, 39,07,963 are female voters and 139 are transgender voters.

There are over 4.11 lakh voters in Dispur assembly constituency in Kamrup (Metro) district.

Six ministers the Sarbananda Sonowal led state government – Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Siddhartha Bhattacharya, Chandra Mohan Patowary, Phani Bhushan Choudhury, Pramila Rani Brahma, Chandan Brahma and state BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass are contesting in the third phase of poll.

Apart from them sitting BJP MLAs Atul Bora Ashok Kumar Singhi, Narayan Deka, Suman Haripriya, Ashwini Ray Sarkar, sitting Congress MLAs Rekibuddin Ahmed, Nandita Das, Wazed Ali Choudhury, Sherman Ali Ahmed, Abdur Rashid Mandal, Sukur Ali Ahmed, Jakir Hussain Sikdar, Abul Kalam Rasheed Alam, sitting AIUDF MLAs Hafiz Bashir Ahmed, Nazrul Haque, Nizanur Rahman, AGP MLAs Gunindra Nath Das, Ramendra Narayan Kalita, BPF MLAs Majendra Narzary, Charan Boro, Rabiram Narzary, Kamalshing Narzary are in fray in the third phase of poll.
