Parrikar blasted by opposition in RS, Azad asks what action the Minister wants to take against minorities

New Delhi, Aug 1 (IBNS) : The opposition in Parliament on Monday tore into Manohar Parrikar for his comment against the Muslim community through Aamir Khan, as Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad demanded to know what lesson the Defence Minister is going to teach the minorities in the country.

"The entire nation should be told what type of action and lessons he is going to teach the minorities of this country," Azad said in the Rajya Sabha.

Taking strong exception to what Parrikar had said, CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said when the Defense Minister of the country makes such comments, it is indeed a matter of importance.

BSP chief Mayawati asked why Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not reining in his Ministers.

Parrikar had earlier slammed Aamir Khan  for insulting his own country and talked about 'lessons' to the actor and others like him. .

Parrikar, however, clarified  on Saturday that the other members should see the video for themselves, and make up their mind about his remarks.

“I am only trying to point out… if anyone speaks like this, he has to be taught a lesson of his life,” Parrikar said at a ceremony to launch the Marathi edition of a book by journalist Nitin Gokhale.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Subramanian Swamy has extended his support to Parrikar's criticism of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan over the intolerance row.

"Why so much hu ha about Parrikar's statement on Aamir? If Aamir is ignorant that to love janma bhoomi is unconditional then he needs a teacher." - tweeted Swamy.
