Patna police take jailed St Xavier’s female teachers on remand

Patna, Nov 11 (TheBiharPost/IBNS): Police in Bihar have taken both the female teachers of St Xavier’s High School, a premier missionary school located in the heart of Patna, on remand for interrogation.

They were taken on remand for 24 hours.

On Thursday evening, they were brought to the women police station in Patna from Beur central jail for interrogation.

The sexual abuse victim has identified both the teachers now in judicial custody but they are still to confess their guilt, police said on Friday.

The accused teachers were sent to jail last Saturday soon after being arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a lower kindergarten girl student.

The victim’s parents in the meanwhile met the district magistrate Sanjay Kumar Agarwal and sought justice from the administration.

They also urged the district magistrate to help them admit their child to another school.

The police have found the charges against the teachers, Indu Anand and Nutan Joseph prima facie true after initial investigation.

“The police have arrested the teachers on the basis of strong evidence,” was how a senior police official Chandan Kushwaha told the media last week.

The police have arrested the teachers after the victim’s parents filed a complaint with the police when the school administration didn’t appear serious over the incident.

In their complaint, the victim’s parents have charged the female teachers with indulging in “unnatural sex” with the LKG girl student in the school’s rest room. “Badi Mam would guard at the room gate while the Chhoti Mam would do ‘ganda kam’ (bad act),” was how the girl told the parents, prompting them to file a case.

Medical tests of the student too have confirmed sexual assault of the little girl. Police apprehend the accused teachers may have been running the paedophilia racket.

On Friday, the victim and her parents got their statements recorded in a local court.

Apart from this, a forensic team also visited the school premises and collected evidence from the spot.

The National Commission for Women while taking cognizance of the case has sought a detailed report from the police.

“It’s shameful to know such dirty acts taking place in a temple of learning,” said Commission member Sushma Sahu.
