'Pilot ji no matter what you do, your number won't come': Amit Shah's dig at Rajasthan Congress power tussle

Bharatpur (Rajasthan): Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday took a dig at Congress’s ongoing internal power struggle in Rajasthan between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his former Deputy Sachin Pilot.

While addressing booth-level party workers in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur, Shah called out the Ashok Gehlot regime in the state for allegedly allowing widespread corruption and loot and transferring the proceeds to the Congress’s coffers.

Alluding to Sachin Pilot’s one-day hunger strike against his own party, demanding a probe against the previous BJP-led government in the state, Shah said his efforts would not bear fruit no matter what he does as Gehlot’s contribution was more in filling his party’s treasure.

Sachin Pilot has rebelled several times to assert his demand for chief ministership but the Congress high command has refused to relent.

Ashok Gehlot, who is also considered close to the Gandhis, doesn’t want to step down in favour of Sachin Pilot, his arch-rival.

Referring to Sachin Pilot’s ambition, the home minister said, "Ashok Gehlot ji does not want to step down from power and Sachin Pilot ji says that he will become the CM. Sachin Pilot ji, no matter how much you protest, your number will not come. Your contribution may be more than that of Ashok Gehlot ji on the ground, but Gehlot ji's contribution is more in the Congress treasury."

Amit Shah criticised Gehlot, accusing him of turning the Rajasthan government into a hub of corruption and embezzling state funds. The top BJP leader also claimed that the embezzled money had been diverted to the coffers of the Congress party.

Amit Shah expressed confidence that the people will vote the current government out in the upcoming elections. He also said that the BJP would win the majority of seats in both the assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan, with a two-thirds majority in the former and a clean sweep of all 25 seats in the latter.
