PM in Mhow, pays tribute Babasaheb Ambedkar

Mhow, Apr 14 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday offered floral tributes to the architect of India’s Constitution, Babasaheb Ambedkar on his 125th birth anniversary, at his birthplace in Mhow.

The Prime Minister later launched the "Gramoday se Bharat Uday" Abhiyan at a Public Meeting in Mhow.

The Prime Minister said it was his privilege to be in Mhow on this auspicious day.

Modi recalled that Dr. Ambedkar had fought against injustice in society.

His was a fight for equality and dignity, the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister said that the Gramoday to Bharat Uday Abhiyan from 14th to 24th April, 2016 would focus attention on the development work to be done in villages.

He said this year’s Union Budget is dedicated to farmers and villages.

He said development initiatives should be focused on rural development.

Mentioning some of the development initiatives being undertaken by the Union Government, the Prime Minister said 18,000 unelectrified villages are being electrified with a 1000 day deadline, and progress towards this goal could be seen by the people through the GARV App.

He said digital connectivity is essential in villages.

The Prime Minister mentioned the objective of doubling farmers’ incomes, and said purchasing power of rural people has to increase as this will power India’s economy.

He said Panchayati Raj institutions should be made stronger and more vibrant.
