PM Modi accuses TMC government of running syndicates in West Bengal
Kolkata, July 16 (IBNS): Addressing the farmers at a rally in West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government of ruining the state by running syndicates.
Modi attacked the Mamata Banerjee government at a farmers' rally in West Midnapore district of the state.
He said: "People of the state know very well about the syndicates."
"Syndicates are there to take away the farmers' profits, murder opposition party leaders, torture poor people, secure vote banks and stay in power."
The PM also referred to the college admission processes where several TMC leaders were accused of being involved in corruption.
"Nothing new can be done in the state without syndicates. No hospital, business or school can be opened without syndicates. Syndicates are also there in college admissions."
Modi attacked the TMC for resorting to violence in the recently concluded panchayat polls, in which 34% of seats primarily went contested.
The PM said the TMC regime has worsened the poor condition of the state which was left by the 34-year old CPI-M government.
Hoping for the success of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Modi said the TMC will face defeats in the near future.
"People of Bengal freed themselves from the Left rule. But it took time. Now they will free themselves from the TMC rule within few months."
In the 2014 General Election, the saffron party had secured only two out of 42 Lok Sabha seats while the TMC had won in 34 seats.
The PM also accused the Mamata Banerjee government of playing appeasement politics.
Hinting at the West Bengal government's directive to postpone the immersion of Durga idols in 2017 for Muharram, Modi said: "Life in Bengal is now very problematic. Even pujas are also facing problems."
Apart from attacking the ruling party of the state, the PM highlighted various steps taken by the BJP-led central government in the last four years for the benefits of farmers.
Modi has thrown light at the increase in Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for the farmers as one such achievement by the central government.
The PM ensured a doubling of peasants' income by 2022.
In order to reach out to the farmers of the state, Modi said: "My government is a pro-farmers government. The BJP-led central government has taken big steps which will strengthen the farmers of the state."
