PM Modi holds meeting with CMs of north-eastern states in Assam to review the flood situation and relief work

Guwahati, Aug 1 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high level meeting on Tuesday in Guwahati, Assam, to review the flood situation and the relief operations in the North Eastern states.

The Prime Minister is also meeting the chief ministers and top officials of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland to review the flood situation in these states.

The Prime Minister arrived in Guwahati on Tuesday  and was received by the Governor of Assam Banwarilal Purohit and the state's Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

On Monday, Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the Prime Minister will also address a legislators' meeting of BJP and its ally parties, including Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF).

According to tweet from the Prime Minister's Office on Monday, Narendra Modi announced rupees two lakh each for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives in the floods in Assam. He also announced Rs. 50,000 each for those seriously injured in the floods.
