PM Modi likely to meet leaders of various churches in Kerala

Kochi/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to meet eight leaders of various Christian denominations during his two-day visit to Kerala on Monday as part of strengthening the BJP's vote base ahead of Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

The PM is likely to interact with Cardinal George Alencherry of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, Cardinal Clemis of the Syro-Malankara Church, Archbishop Joseph Kalathiparambil of Latin Catholic Church, Malankara Orthodox church head catholicos Baselios Mar Thoma Mathews-III, Jacobite church metropolitan trustee Joseph Mor Gregorios, Knanaya church head Mar Mathew Moolakkatt, Knanaya metropolitan Kuriakose Mor Severios, and Chaldean Syrian church head Mar Awgin Kuriakose, sources said.

On Sunday, former Kerala Congress (Joseph) leader and convener of UDF in Pathanamthitta district, Victor T Thomas, joined the BJP.

Former deputy chairman of Kerala Congress (Joseph faction), Johnny Nellore, has also announced the formation of a new political outfit 'National Progressive Party' in the State.

VV Augustine, who left the Kerala Congress recently, has been appointed as the Chairman of the newly announced party.
