Hyderabad/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday exuded confidence that the double-engine government of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will come to power in Telangana.

He said the state would progress rapidly, if a double-engine government assumes power.

Addressing a public meeting christened 'Vijay Sankalpa Sabha' at the sprawling Secunderabad Parade Grounds here tonight, the Prime Minister said the presence of BJP has grown manifold in the state.

Modi, who began his speech in Telugu to the delight of the vast crowd, said people in the state were laying track for the double-engine government in the state. He expressed happiness that in the last Lok Sabha elections, people of the state had supported BJP.

Listing out various development schemes in the last eight years, the Prime Minister said the life quality of people has improved.

He said the government has undertaken several developmental works in Telangana, including the setting up of Mega Textile Parks and laying of Highways, which had doubled.

Modi said the Centre has fulfilled the dreams of Dalits and tribal people and also helped farmers in providing the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

He said Telangana was a holy land and also expressed happiness on seeing the vast crowd, which had gathered in the ground.

"It looks like people from the entire state have gathered at the Parade Ground," he added.

Earlier several leaders, including BJP national president JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who also spoke, underlined the need to bring BJP to power in the state in the next Assembly elections.

Union Ministers, Chief Ministers and BJP National leaders, among others, attended the meet.

After an overnight stay at Raj Bhavan, Modi will proceed to Bhimavaram in the neighbouring state of Andhra Pradesh Monday.
