New Delhi/IBNS: At a day when India's COVID-19 cases crossed 3000, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday called US President Donald Trump, President of Brazil Jair Messias Bolsonaro and President of Spain Pedro Sanchez Perez-Castejon to discuss the global challenges posed by the pandemic, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

The Prime Minister conveyed to the heads of the three nations his deep condolences for the loss of lives in their countries and his prayers for early recovery of those still suffering from the disease.

He exchanged views on the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the global well-being and economy.

All the leaders agreed on the importance of international cooperation for fighting the global health crisis. They agreed with Prime Minister’s observation that the world needed to define a new, human-centric concept of globalisation for the post-COVID era.

The Prime Minister assured India's help to the leaders in their fight against COVID-19

They also touched upon the significance of practices such as Yoga and Ayurveda (traditional Indian herbal medicine practice) for ensuring physical and mental well-being in these difficult times.

Stressing the special relationship between the two countries, the Prime Minister reiterated India’s solidarity with the USA in overcoming this global crisis together. The two leaders agreed to deploy the full strength of the India – US partnership to resolutely and effectively combat COVID-19.

The Prime Minister and the US President exchanged notes on the respective steps taken in each country for mitigating the health and economic impacts of the pandemic.
