New Delhi/UNI/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on Tuesday, underscoring the imperative for a strengthened strategic partnership between India and Saudi Arabia.

Against the backdrop of heightened tensions in the Red Sea region and a recent drone attack on a vessel transporting Saudi oil to India, the two leaders mutually affirmed their commitment to collaborative efforts aimed at fostering peace, security, and stability in the region, reported The Economic Times.

On micro-blogging site X, Modi said, "Held a good conversation with my brother HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on the future of Strategic Partnership between India and Saudi Arabia."

"We exchanged views on the West Asia situation and shared concerns regarding terrorism, violence and the loss of civilian lives. Agreed to work together for peace, security, and stability in the region."

Emphasising the paramount importance of maritime security and freedom of navigation, both leaders discussed the ongoing situation in West Asia.

During the exchange, they reviewed the progress in the bilateral Strategic Partnership, building on the Crown Prince's state visit to India in September 2023, said the report.

Modi and the Saudi Crown Prince deliberated on a forward-looking bilateral partnership agenda, outlining the trajectory for future collaboration.

Expressing shared concerns over terrorism, violence, and the loss of civilian lives, the leaders acknowledged the critical need for concerted efforts to address the current challenges in the region.

According to a UNI report, the talks gained additional significance against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict in Gaza, where the toll has surpassed 20,600 Palestinians, with a significant number being women and children.

Prime Minister Modi reiterated India's unwavering stance on the Israel-Palestine issue and urged continued humanitarian aid for the affected population.

The conversation delved into the broader regional context, with both leaders expressing a commitment to maintaining stability and security.

Modi conveyed congratulations to Saudi Arabia for being selected as the host for Expo 2030 and the FIFA Football World Cup 2034.

The two leaders affirmed their commitment to stay in touch, underscoring the importance of ongoing dialogue amid evolving regional dynamics.
