PM Modi to begin his state visit to Africa today

New Delhi, July 23 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin his five-day state visit to three African nations in the context of the BRICS Summit on Monday.

He will visit Rwanda, Uganda and South Africa between July 23 and July 27.

Modi will pay a state visit to Rwanda between July 23 and July 24. This is the first ever state visit to Rwanda by an Indian Prime Minister.

In Rwanda, the PM will visit the Genocide Memorial and participate in an event on "Girinka” (one cow per family) and a national social protection scheme of Rwanda.

Between July 25 and July 27, the PM will be in Uganda.

Modi will be the first Indian PM to visit Uganda in 20 years.

In Uganda, Modi will deliver a keynote address at the Parliament of Uganda, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to do so.

In both the countries, Modi will engage himself in bilateral meetings with the Presidents, business and the Indian communities of the respective countries.

In South Africa, the PM will have bilateral meeting with the South African President and will attend the BRICS Summit and other BRICS related meetings.

Bilateral meetings with participating countries on the sidelines of the BRICS meetings are also planned.

The BRICS Summit is an international relations conference attended by the heads of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

The 10th edition of the summit will be held between July 25 and July 28.
