He became the first passenger of Kanpur Metro Service as he launched the first phase of the service with great fanfare.

Modi traveled from IIT Gate Metro Station to Geeta Nagar Metro Station, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri and Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Kumar Keshav.

Modi took a smart ticket at the station and started his metro tour.

After reaching Geeta Nagar metro station, he returned back to IIT. Later he inspected the exhibition of Kanpur Metro and took note of the construction work underway to expand it further.

Earlier in the day he attended the 54th convocation of IIT Kanpur.
