Political activist critically wounded, PSO killed in Kishtwar; gunmen decamp with weapon
Jammu, Apr 9 (UNI) A political activist was seriously injured while his private security officer died on the spot when some unidentified gunmen fired indiscriminately at them in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
"Some unidentified gunmen this afternoon fired at political activist Chanderkant Sharma and his PSO near district hospital," police said.
They said that the political activist suffered serious bullet injury in his abdomen while his PSO identified as Constable Rajinder Kumar died in the spot and the attackers fled away with his weapon.
"Unidentified gunmen attacked two persons in which one suffered bullet injury but his PSO died on the spot," Manish Kumar Singh, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone here told UNI.
He said that the gunmen also decamped with the official weapon of the PSO while the protectee was under treatment.
However, sources said that Chanderkant Sharma is also an employee of the health department and was receiving threats since past some time.
As per reports district administration has imposed restrictions in the town to maintain law and order in awake of the attack while mobile internet service has also been snapped.
In November 2018, BJP leader Anil Parihar and his brother were also shot dead by some unidentified terrorists in Kishtwar.
