Politicians across party lines condole Irrfan Khan 's death

New Delhi/UNI: Politicians, cutting across party lines, on Wednesday expressed condolences on the passing away of Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Union ministers, leaders of the ruling BJP as well as leaders of the opposition parties like Congress and Aam Aadmi party expressed their condolences on the death of Irrfan, who had established a niche for himself in the industry with his critically acclaimed performances in films like Maqbool, Hindi Medium, Namesake and several other films.

Condoling the death, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said, 'Irfan Khan was a versatile actor. Sorry to hear about his demise. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and fans. Om Shanti.''

Culture minister Prahlad Singh Patel also condoled his untimely death.

''Outstanding actor who entertained us for many decades. I am shocked by death of Irrfan, Student and favorite artist of all directors. He had said in his last message, 'I have some unwanted guests in my body with whom I am talking', the ''Culture Minister Prahlad Patel said.

Women and child development Minister Smriti Irani, a former actor, also mourned the loss.

''He etched every character in our memories with sheer talent...How do you mourn his passing away for he breathes in the characters he left behind", Irani said in a tweet.
BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia also condoled the acclaimed actor's death.

'Extremely saddened by the news. #IrrfanKhan was one of the finest actors of the Indian film industry. Undoubtedly, it’s a huge loss for us! I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and close ones,''he said.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Aam Aadmi party supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also expressed their condolences.

In a condolence message, Rahul said, ''I’m sorry to hear about the passing of Irrfan Khan. A versatile & talented actor, he was a popular Indian brand ambassador on the global film & tv stage. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family, friends & fans at this time of grief.''

''Shocked to hear of the demise of Irrfan Khan, one of the most exceptional actors of our time. May his work always be remembered and his soul rest in peace,'' Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said.

The actor died at the age of 53, after being admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on Tuesday, where was under observation for colon infection.
