Polling staff perform uphill task of counting Rs 5 coins for security deposit
Raipur, 2 April (UNI): A candidate of Azad Janta Party brought pots filled with coins to file nomination papers from Durg Lok Sabha constituency of Chhattisgarh.
Polling staff had to toil hard in counting the coins in the denomination of Rs 5.
Swatantra Tiwari, a resident of Dondi Lohara Block visited Durg Collectorate to file nomination papers on behalf of Azad Janta Party. Interestingly he brought pots filled with coins to pay security amount.
Processing the nomination papers of this candidate has cost dearly to the officials who had to sweat it out in counting the coins.
During discussion, candidate Swatantra Tiwari said that the amount of security deposit was mobilised by the villagers. People in his village encouraged him to contest election by chipping in Rs 5 each, he said.
The process of filing nomination papers on this parliamentary seat is under way. The polling on Durg seat will be held in the 3rd phase on April 23.
