Polling stations in Kerala to go green
Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 22 (UNI): Acting as a role model for other states, for the first time, green protocol will be followed at all polling stations in Kerala, which heads for polls on Tuesday, to adorn eco-friendly election.
In a move to make the elections green, based on the directions of Election Commission, both the Haritha Keralam Mission and the Suchitwa Mission have made necessary arrangements at all polling stations across the state to ensure a 'green poll'.
Officials from both the missions will visit the polling booths to ensure the implementation of the Green Protocol, said T.N. Seema, executive vice-chairperson of Haritha Keralam Mission, in a statement here.
Instructions were given to strictly avoid non-biodegradable materials, including plastic materials and disposable items, at polling booths and advised political parties to avoid supplying food items wrapped in plastic materials.
To allay all the doubts with regard to maintaining green protocol during the election, the Haritha Keralam Mission has introduced a handbook focusing on gaining public participation on creating a green electoral environment.
The handbook was widely circulated across the state and a copy of the handbook was given to all the candidates when they filed their nominations.
